Nidaros
Cathedral Boys Choir is the oldest boys' choir
in Norway, and represents a 900-year-long tradition of boy
singers in the Nidaros Cathedral. The present choir was
founded in 1927 and celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2002.
Nidaros
Cathedral Boys Choir includes about 50 boys and
25 men. In recent years it has performed in London, Moscow,
Rome, Paris, Berlin, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Phoenix,
Seattle and on the Canary Islands. It has sung for the Pope
and all the European royal families. The choir has been
on radio and TV a number of times and has performed at festivals
and arrangements home and abroad. Most recently, in February
2001, the choir sang at the exclusive International Boys'
Choir Festival in Poznan, Poland. Its international status
was confirmed in March 2001 when it was appointed as one
of 15 European Culture Ambassadors by the Academy of European
Choirs. Yet it is in the Nidaros Cathedral the choir has
its base. Here it regularly takes part in services and gives
its own concerts.
We
are very happy that Nidaros Cathedral Boys Choir
will honor us with a concert at our Church during their
tour in the US in April 2006 and we urge you all to come
and join us for this magnificent concert with one of the
best choirs of Norway! The concert will follow immediately
after the Reading
& Signing with Princess Märtha Louise that will
take place at 6 pm that you also might want
to join. The Princess was the former Patron Saint of the
Nidaros Cathedral Boys Choir - so we are
glad to put these two events together. It will be
a splendid and memorable evening. Welcome!
