The

proudly present
The Nidaros Cathedral Girls Choir
Songs Across the Sea
Concert at the Norwegian Seamen's
Church
in New York
Sunday, April 9th, at 12.30 p.m.
The
Nidaros Cathedral Girls Choir is touring
the USA April 1st to 11th , 2006, visiting Minneapolis,
St. Olaf College in Northfield, Madison Wisconsin
and New York. The tour, entitled “Songs Across
the Sea”, aims at strengthening the ties between
USA and Norway, and promoting the Choir, the Cathedral
and Norwegian culture. The tour follows up the visit
of St. Olaf College Choir to Trondheim in June 2005,
when the two choirs together with the Norwegian soloist
Randi Stene recorded the one-hour holiday special
from the Nidaros Cathedral, A St. Olaf Christmas in
Norway, aired nationwide in USA on PBS and in Norway
on NRK during Christmas 2005. The concert was highly
acclaimed: ”This was the most stunning choral
performance I have heard. The choirs, singing from
memory and from the heart, were world-class. Tuning,
blend, balance and ensemble were faultless, the extra
wow factor coming from two highly charismatic conductors
[Adrian Carpenter, in Choir & Organ, the English,
the classical music magazine]. Also the Choir performance
of Vivaldi’s Gloria was broadcasted on American
radio just before Christmas. The choir is conducted
by Anita Brevik.
