Short classical pieces from around the world to be announced from the podium

AAGE KVALBEIN, cellist, is world renowned and has performed in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, England, Scotland, Ireland, France Spain, Italy, Switzerland. Austria, Yugoslavia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Israel, Soviet, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, China, Phillipines, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Korea . He is the winner of international competitions in Helsinki and Munich 1976-- The Norwegian music Critics' Award, Grieg Prize, twice the Norwegian "Grammy" Award. Activities as solo cellist for the Oslo Symphony orchestra 77/78. Member of Oslo Trio from 1974. Now professor at the Norwegian State Academy of Music. Recordings 40 records (LP,CD) of solo and chamber music for cello
   
SHUANN CHAI's recent performances include Steinert Hall (Boston, MA), Steinway Hall of Seattle, the Helikon Keyboard Festival (Belgium), and the Pianoworks Gallery (Atlanta, GA) as well as a series of concertsi n Norway with cellist Audun Sandvik. She was also the soloist for the Schumann and Tchaikovsky Concertos at the Gliere Festival of Kiev, Ukraine, and has played live on WGBH Boston (with cellist Pieter Wispelwey), NPR Vermont, and Radio-Canada. Upcoming concerts include solo recitals at the Cataumet Arts Center of Cape Cod, the Axminster Concert Series in East Devon, England, the Hatchlands Keyboard Collection, and St. Peter’s Church in New York City. Shuann completed her undergraduate work in her home town at Oberlin College, majoring in Piano Performance and Biology. After choosing music over medical school, she moved to Boston to study at the New England Conservatory. Presently, Shuann is completing a Ph.D in Musicology at Brandeis University, where she was awarded the Gershwin Foundation Prize. When time allows, she and her husband David enjoy traveling, reading, and cooking.
